Biohazard Waste Disposal in The Villages, FL

Start with the property's street address. The Villages spans Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties, and a CDD residential district is a separate detail. This guide routes household sharps, household hazardous waste, routine residential trash and recycling, and facility-generated biomedical waste to distinct public-program guidance.

Biohazard Cleanup Connect is an independent information and referral guide. It does not perform cleanup, pickup, transport, treatment, testing, clearance, or disposal work. County and DOH contacts below are public-program or regulatory contacts, not commercial pickup lines.

    Step one · exact address

Find the county and CDD district before choosing a route.

A mailing city or ZIP code does not identify the right County office or residential sanitation schedule. The CDD finder uses the property address to show its County and residential district. Keep those results separate: district schedules guide ordinary residential collection, while County jurisdiction identifies County programs.

These public household-sharps programs do not establish acceptance of clinic, laboratory, dental, veterinary, or other facility-generated biomedical waste. Use the facility guidance below for that separate route.

    For household chemicals

Household hazardous waste has three different County routes.

Eligibility, accepted items, site hours, and limits differ. Household hazardous-waste sites and events are not routes for sharps or facility-generated biomedical waste.

    Lake County

Residential sites, with proof of residency

Lake County requires proof of Lake County residency. Its current County pages list household chemicals, paints, automotive fluids, batteries, lawn and pool chemicals, propane tanks, bulbs, and aerosols. Accepted items and quantity limits vary by site.

Call about the exact item and site

County pages name some items at recycling centers, including motor oil up to five gallons, batteries, CFL bulbs, and paint up to five gallons. The County's broader list, quantity wording, intake hours, and site access are not clear enough to treat as a complete acceptance rule.

Before taking anything to a center

Call to confirm the exact material, quantity, center, hours, and whether your address or account needs an assessment or permit. Do not rely on a general list or threshold for a specific load.

County guidance treats medical waste separately from HHW. Its general rules list personal-care and sharps containers as exceptions to a medical-waste exclusion; this is not a facility biomedical-waste route.

    Sumter County

    Mobile collection events only

Sumter County directs household hazardous waste to mobile collection events, not its regular Citizens' Drop-Off Area. The event page lists household chemical categories and excludes biological or infectious waste, explosives, radioactive waste, and tires.

Start with the exact CDD district for a Villages residence. County curbside and drop-off arrangements differ outside or alongside district services. None of the routine services below confirms acceptance of facility biomedical waste.

    Lake County

    Unincorporated curbside service

Lake County curbside collection applies to unincorporated Lake County and is tied to the solid-waste assessment. The County's hauler page is area-based, not an address-entry pickup lookup.

For clinics, practices, labs, and other generators

Facility-generated biomedical waste needs its own guidance.

Ask the Florida Department of Health Environmental Health Biomedical Waste program in the County where the facility is located. Describe the actual generator, material, and activity so the program can explain the applicable requirements.

Regulatory guidance, not a disposal service

These DOH contacts do not provide commercial pickup or a public facility-waste drop-off. Do not take facility-generated material to household sharps kiosks, household HHW sites, or routine trash facilities.
